Here is my situation, I have moved back to my mother's house and, when she bought the house, four years ago, she had the house set up for wireless access to the Net, throughout the house. I have a wired router that, I want to continue to use because I don't trust wireless setups. I have looked at some drawing on the Net, of a combined wireless/wired setup.

How can I make use of my wired router, in my mother's wireless setup?

Christopher

Hello Christopher

I would go wireless if I was in your situation, it is quite safe so long as your
mother has a secure password protected connection and of course that your pc is
wireless enabled. My setup is initially a wired router for this pc but a
Wireless Access Point router attached to the wired router so that other pc's in
the house can use the connection without all the wires. I would go with the
wireless but if you want to stay wired I would think you should just be able to
connect your router to an available telephone wall socket through an ADSL filter
and then access it and set up the router using your mother's user-name and
password. Give it a try and let us know how you get on.
