Thread: Message bodies seem to be re-encoded from ISO-8859-1 to UTF-8

Message bodies seem to be re-encoded from ISO-8859-1 to UTF-8

Hi folks.

I'm having trouble with mail processed by amavisd-new (at
least that's
my conclusion so far). Mail arrives with BODY=8BITMIME and
ISO-8859-1
encoded data in the mail body. Postfix then passes the data
to amavisd,
and when it returns to Postfix after checking, the body
contains UTF-8
encoded data. When I turn off content filtering in Postfix,
the body
data is sent completely unmodified.

I updated several Perl modules via CPAN on the affected
server today, so
that's probably where the problem is hidden. I have attached
Amavis's
startup log to this mail. Maybe one of the MIME: modules is
to blame?
To my knowledge, the problem has never occurred on the
server before,
even though the Perl modules were updated every once in a
while.

Your help is appreciated.

-Ralph

Sounds as if libnet-1.20 is your problem. Please see:

The error comes from Net::Cmd.pm. Take a look at:

http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=amavis-user&
;m=117095734709511

I had the same problem. Use the
patch and evrything is ok.

Thanks a lot, Noel. I applied the Net::Cmd patch which Mark
quoted from
<http://rt.cpan.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=24835#tx
n-289410>, et voilà,
message bodies are no longer unnecessarily UTF-8 encoded. My
thanks also
to Jim Knuth for pointing this out aswell.

Man, this mailing list really rocks!
