Thread: Changing timezone on log entries and headers

Changing timezone on log entries and headers

Hi all!

I've been looking how to change the default amavisd-new date
format (UTC)
on log entries and headers of emails, but I haven't found
it.

I've seen the code on the amavisd perl script, and I've read
the
README.customize, but I don't know how to apply the change
for using
date_rfc2822_local (or %d).

Thanks in advance

Best regards,
  Alvaro.

PS: BTW, I'm using amavisd-new 2.4.4

At the end of amavisd, there are templates (search beginning
with "This
text section"). These templates are what you
customize, by replacing,
for example %d, with the desired time macro. Search
"%d" downward after
you are at the first template, and you'll find a line that
starts with

Date: %d

This should get your started.

For timestamps on log entries it is the syslogd daemon that
is
prepending them, not amavisd - so amavisd has no control
over it.

For a Date header field in notifications, the RFC 2822
timestamp
format is used (hardwired in more recent versions of
amavisd,
regardless of the Date in a notification template). This
format
is a local time (not UTC), with a time zone. I don't know
why
you are seeing UTC times, perhaps amavisd is running
chrooted
and the time zone is not configured correctly in a chroot
jail.

Thanks a lot for your help (both .

Indeed, I have it configured in a chroot jail... O But I
didn't think
about it at first because I had other instances with a
similar config,
working ok.

Best regards,

PS: I knew UTC-by-default couldn't be, but I had a mental
block
