(Apologies for cross-posting.)
Dear colleagues,
a special issue devoted to Facet analysis has just been
published in
Axiomathes, an international journal in ontology and
cognitive
systems, edited by Roberto Poli and published by Springer.
The issue is oriented towards the exploration of potential
connections between facet analysis, a methodology originally
developed in library science, and other disciplines,
including
philosophy, linguistics, and computer science. This looks
relevant
also in the light of the recent peak of interest in facets
by
information architects and knowledge managers.
Contributors to the issue include world authorities on the
subject,
as well as researchers involved in current projects on the
application of facet analysis: Clare Beghtol, Brian Vickery,
Ingetraut Dahlberg, Claudio Gnoli, Vanda Broughton, Douglas
Tudhope &
Ceri Binding, Alberto Cheti & Federica Paradisi, Uta
Priss, Aida Slavic.
The journal contents can be accessed at
http://ww
w.springerlink.com/content/106590/ from any institution
subscribing to Springer journal collections (please follow
the link
to Volume 8 Number 2). Table of contents, abstracts, and
references
are freely available to anyone.
Dissemination of the present information among information
professionals is particularly welcome, as the journal is
known mostly
among philosophy readers. We hope to contribute a better
reciprocal
knowledge of the two communities, given the
interdisciplinary
interest of the subject. People interested in writing a
review are
welcome to contact me for more information.
Thank you for your attention,
Claudio Gnoli
