I'm looking for a query/report component to add into our
ASP.NET 1.1
application. I'm not looking for something like Crystal,
ActiveReports,
or SQL Reporting Services where the reports need to be
developed in the
IDE, but rather an tool that can be incorporated into our
distributed
browser-based application that is suitable for moderately
training
end-users to use. Ideally we'd be able to programmatically
set the
database connection, tables/views, etc. at runtime and then
let the
user select fields, apply filters, grouping, apply minor
formating
(headers, footers, totals and subtotals). The user should
be able to
save the report as a template that other users can access
(user-level
security/access can be handled by the parent application).
Report
output should support both tabular data (lists) and detailed
reports.
Heirarchical or drill-down functionality is not required.
Output should
be delivered as HTML, while options for PDF, CSV, DOC, or
RTF would be
nice. The product should not require the download or
installation of
any components (e.g., ActiveX, Java), though it is OK if
this is an
IE-only solution. Ours is a commercial product and we are
open to any
reasonable redistribution licensing options for the
incorporated
component. After some extensive searches I realize I'm
asking for
quite a bit, but I still can't believe something isn't
already out
there. Any suggestions/recommendations is appreciated.
Thank you in
advance.
