I have had very nice results using a Tascam US-122 and
GNU/Linux for several
years now. A couple items to note; using USB2 it works
"perfectly", however
using USB1 I will occasionally get a "dropout".
Also, it appears that Tascam is now releasing a US-122L and
a US-144, which I
believe have different chipsets (and at least the US-122L
did not work with
Linux as of a couple months ago).
