Hello,
I am using this
00:11.5 Multimedia audio controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8233/A/8235/8237 AC97 Audio Controller (rev 50)
card and I am trying to compile latest stable alsa-drivers from source.  is OK, but when I try ´make´ I get this output http://other.czechdesign.net/alsa-make2.txt (encoding utf-8).
I am using Debian (2.4.27-2-38), so if there is a way how to get specific debian packages and be able to do
 modprobe snd-via82xx;modprobe snd-pcm-oss;modprobe snd-mixer-oss;modprobe snd-seq-oss

without an error (couldnt find module) it would be fine.
I am using this manual http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/doc-php/template.php?company=VIA&card=VIA+southbridge+AC97+audio.&chip=VIA82C686%2C+VIA8233%2C+VIA8233A%2C+VIA8235%2C+VIA8237&module=via82xx

Thanks 4 help
Martin

Looks like your GCC is too old to build ALSA. Get a newer
version.
