When developing the new redesign for our company website (
http://www.visible
technologies.com ) I researched keywords that people
are using in relation to "search engine optimization -
seo" and "pay
per click" to see what terms were searched the most.
The term "search
engine marketing" gets searched over 2,200 times a
day.
Wow!
So, I naturally developed the website around that term. I
mean, why
not? If we can get ranked for that term alone, don't you
think we
would get a lot of leads?
So, once the website was finished, one of the staff at the
company
asked,"Why 'search engine marketing' ? Aren't we a
'search engine
optimization' company? and a pay per click management
company?"
Thus sparked the debate around the office...
So, what is "search engine marketing"?
I sort of answered it in my article located on the site
itself at
http://www.visibletechnologies.com/SEO/What-
Is-Search-Marketing.html
I decided then to develop a website dedicated to discussing
what search
engine marketing is itself.
htt
p://www.search-engine-marketing-discussion.com
I even added a page talking about search engine marketing (
http://www.search-engine-marketing-
discussion.com/search_engine_marketing.asp
) alone, along with other pages talking about search engine
optimization, and even answering the question of whether
submitting
your URL to the search engine is worth it.
So, what are your thoughts?
Obviously the term itself is known, as it wouldn't be
searched so much.
But what is it really?
