On those rare occasions I get a little poison ivy rash, I dampen it
with water, sprinkle on salt, and scrub away with my hands. It
satisfies that itch! I keep scrubbing until it starts to slightly
burn, then leave plenty of salt on it (maybe add some more), let it
dry. That has always dried the rash right up, and takes care of the
itch, too.
