Do I need to support multiple versions, or are they all compatible as
far as a wxWidgets based app is concerned?

Others may be able to offer better solutions here, but after years of
offering multiple distributions for various Linux flavours, I've found
that I can get away with a single Linux binary by compiling on Debian
Sarge. I also avoid using the standard C++ library e.g. streams, and add
-lsupc++ to the front of my linker flags to compile the minimal C++
support, reducing the chance of C++ library conflicts.

I recommend using VMware or equivalent to allow you to test on multiple
Linux distributions (and potentially other i386-based operating systems
such as Solaris and FreeBSD).

Regards,

Julian
