The sitetree generates a bogus request for .gif for nodes
that are under archive
and trash for the purpose of holding other nodes. To
replicate, delete a child
node, go to trash. The containing node doesn't have an icon
with it. On the
server side this generates a couple of weird stack traces.
No harm is done, but
it does generate pointless errors in the logs.

If no one else beats me to it, I will try to take a better
look at this on
Monday. The file generating the request is lenyatree.js
