yes, because it will give people a chance to state their
opinion and also
prepare themselves to act accordingly in case such cases are
going to
happen.
As said before I am not generally against such changes, but
against the
way these things
are being handled currently

I am not sure if I really understand what you mean. You mean
because
people base their
stuff on Lenya? Well, sure they do. This is why API changes
need to be
communicated properly
and in the case of a stable branch the API is even frozen
except for bug
fixes.
