Log4j and validator

Check the mail archives around November of 2005.  I had
proposed upgrading 
to log4j 1.2.12 There had been some objections to going to
1.2.12, and I had 
backed down to 1.2.11.  I'm not sure if the objections still
apply or not.

I can't remember what they were.
