Signature Timestamp

How does TSIK support timestamp based signature verification?  I am using TSIK API to sign & verify some application xml. I need to perform timestamp based signature verification (message digest/root ca/crl) of the xml. How do I ensure that signature timestamp is included to the <Signature> block of the signed xml when I sign using TSIK? How do I retrieve signature timestamp from the <Signature> block of the signed xml at the time of verification using TSIK? Any illustrative example will be greatly appreciated.
