In FOP we left them be. I, too, prefer moving the branches
to a
subdirectory. After all when you delete a branch, how do you
know that a
certain branch ever existed (looking at the HEAD revision
only)? In SVN,
it's a little difficult. It's better to let them live
especially since
they don't take up additional space like with CVS. Deleting
short-lived,
unimportant branches is ok, though.
