Transparent images within SVG -> transcoding to PDF

Hi,

We happen to have a PNG image which does not have a white
background,
but uses transparency instead. We tried forcing a background
color
using the KEY_BACKGROUND_COLOR, but that still results in a
PDF
document with a black background, when transcoding to PDF.

Can anyone recommend the correct way to force batik to
render a
transparent image to a certain preferred color? (Like
ImageTranscoder
has a FORCE_TRANSPARENT_WHITE)
