Hi Attila,
Yes, the overall reason is that Stendhal is not optimized at
all nor for
speed nor for size.
IMHO best approach would be to deal with rendering ( that is
the cause of
high CPU usage ).
I will work this summer on Marauroa to optmize it even more
for next
generation of stendhal.

Sure you are welcome.
Perhaps it is best to join efforst in the new OpenGL client
and try to build
a client from scratch using it. You will be able to use all
the entity
package code that is the one that has more relation with
Stendhal server and
that would be most complex to rewrite.
Meanwhile you can lower CPU usage by closing some of the
stendhal windows.
Using Tomcat but need to do more? Need to support web
services, security?
