archiving and categorizing

I have thousands of digital photos that have only numbers as
file
names. I'm an amateur and now people are asking for
portfolios and how
to purchase a few of my images. I have no idea of how to go
about
organizing them!

I'd like to keep them in their original directory
structures because
that's what I'm used to and that's the default on the
camera, however
I'd like to find something like iTunes for images. I'm
hoping to add
keywords and get category views without physically moving
the images.
I'm not too concerned about editing since I'll do this in
Photoshop.


Anyone know if there's some "haus" app that
does this? I'm in way over
my head here with this amount of unorganized images!
