How to detect DTMF digits in channel driver

I'm writing a new channel driver to interface to a board
with 2 FXS 
ports. The hardware in these ports can't detect DTMF digits
therefore 
the channel driver has to do it in software. I'm looking
through the 
code to but I'm having a hard time getting it to work.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this or point me in
the right 
direction ?
