Dave,
Thanks for your reply. I didn't see any applicable options when I right clicked the speaker button, but I've actually found the solution to be that I somehow checked a Playthrough option under Preferences, in the Audio I/O tab to immediately play new track while recording. This was the source of the feedback that was killing the recording. When it was unchecked and tested, it worked fine! I am so relieved.
Thanks for your input.
Mike

Hi
right click on the small speaker in the right corner on the bar at the bottom and the volume control and see which inputs are turned on you may find the mic is the only thing on.?
THANKYOU DAVE

Subject: [Audacity-users] Problems recording streaming audio...Audacity 1.26and 1.3 Beta
Hi,
I'm not sure if this is the right way to submit a problem for resolution or not, but I get a good feel for the feedback I see to the submissions to this list.
When I first installed Audacity, I was really excited and pleased with how well it recorded from the mic as well as the few streaming audios that I tried. In retrospect, that was originally installed on a notebook computer running XP Home.
Now I'm running on XP Media Center Edition 2002 w/ SP2, and I'm unable to record anything off the computer except for mic input. When trying to record off mono or stereo mix, I get an awful reverb that progressively gets so loud I just have to cancel the recording altogether. I was curious if it were a feedback problem from having the external speakers on, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in anticipation.
Mike Hew
