Hello Norman -
I am still learning Audacity but I do know that the answer to
your question is cut and paste - exactly as you have said. It can be done
in two ways. First - you can open another track and do the recording you
wish to put in and then highlight and copy it (or cut it) from that track and
place your cursor on the other track exactly where you want the extra recording
to go and paste it right there and then of course you have to highlight the part
of the old recording and delete it. I would listen to the new before
you delete the old.
The second way it can be done is to place your cursor directly
at the place on the track where the old recording is - directly in the place
where you want it to go and then record there - and then of course when you have
that recording there you must highlight and cut out the old part you do not
want. It works the same way that cutting and pasting works with
Word.
I am a voice-over actress and I need software that works
well. I need some info on how to fix up my Audacity track when I have
downloaded it on my desktop. I had noticed when I first downloaded it that
when recording a green or red light would appear in the menu - a colored green
or red moving light - a light which moves to one's voice as recording takes
place.
Then after a few weeks of using Audacity something happened to
my computer and I had to restore everything and when I restored Audacity I
forgot what to do after I downloaded it and now when I record those colored
lights do not appear and I can't tell what to do to make them appear. I
suspect that the lights should appear as recording happens because the quality
of my voice does not sound the same as before when I worked with the lights
appearing. I don't know if you know what I mean. But do you have any
suggestion or know who I may contact to give me this
information?
Happy Christmas
Phyllis
