Manuel,
The latest version of HLFS (SVN-20060726) cannot be built
with the
HLFS branch of jhalfs. Drastic changes were made to the
book's build
method and will require significant rework of the script.
It will take a few days to read the book and make the
appropriate
changes to the script.. I will do the work on the
'experimental' branch
first.

I'm sorry about this, it wasn't good timing, considering
your release. The
hlfs-svn book is not known to actually work yet. It was
committed to help
find bugs faster, with user feedback. I suggest you use the
version from the
17th of July for now.

It's not a problem Robert. I am making changes to
accommodate your
new method now. I knew this was coming down the pipe and
should have
been on the ball. The only ugly bits are the toolchain
names. I have to
map them to the gcc and binutils packages, it will take a
few days to
sort this out.
question 1.. how long does it take to build the embryo,
cocoon and
butterfly stages. (embryo is running in the back ground)
question 2.. is there any technical reason you use
separate packages
for gcc-core and gcc-g++ ..

18-20 sbu for embryo. About 4 sbu for cocoon and butterfly.

No. You can use the big gcc tarball. HLFS doesn't currently
support the extra
languages like ada and java.

No problem.
Adding now a note to SupportedBooks to adress that.

I have most of the work done to HLFS necessary to
accommodate the new
book design.. I also took the time to rework the internals
of
./HLFS/master.sh and revert the user account back to hlfs
from lfs.
So far only one serious question. (xsl of course) This
piece of the
book does not parsed correctly... there is a new contruct
<literal condition=$model ..... /literal> which is
suppose to select
which loader to use. I am assuming hlfs.xsl sorts this out
as the
rendered book looks ok.
chaps 5.9 cocoon toolchain and 6.12 butterfyl toolchain

Try adding this to hlfs.xsl:
<xsl:template match="literal">
<xsl:if test=" condition=$model or
not( condition)>
<xsl:apply-templates/>
</xsl:if>
</xsl:template>

missing a <"> but it works great, thanks.
Now to sort out a
cocoon-toolchain issue. Is it jhalfs or the book??

I'm taking a look at the new book now.
Noticed that the new toolchain pages are combining the
packages from the top
dir. Thus, for that scripts we must to start into the
sources/ directory, not
in $PKGDIR.
That could be fixed via the XSL or, for now, using a sed.
