I not, for sure

The perl timing looks very intrusive, at least to me. It
implies replacing a
simple "time" call by two "date" plus
one "perl" calls, increasing a lot the
Makefile size.

To set TIMEFORMAT seems a good idea. It could allow to
simplify a lot time
calculations

Great. Not tested yet but looks sane.

Well, if TIMEFORMAT is added, it will need some changes to
handle the new time
format.

Only remains to add it to the list of non-validated
settings.

Many thanks, I will test it ASAP.

But of course, the time call is forked during the full
package build, while
the others not ...

Maybe we should to implement both, the "time by
perl" and "bc by perl" changes
at the same time.

Could one of you create a new patch implementing both
changes? I can try do
it, but maybe not until the next weekend.

Me neither. Perl syntax makes me want to vomit

You can do this by using

Yeah. As long as we have bash, it's silly not to use it's
timing
routine. Especially since using $SECONDS isn't as precise as
time.

Sure. Play around with TIMEFORMAT. It could be anything you
want. The
point was just that the format can be made so that parsing
the value
is easy and obvious.
