Can Banshee play streaming MP3?

Is Banshee currently not able to play streaming MP3? For
example, this...

http://somafm.com/indi
epop.pls

...plays in just about every other music player. If this is
not
currently supported in Banshee, why not, and when will it be
added?

Hi John,

It's not there yet because nobody has written it, it will be
when
somebody does .

All the needed infrastructure for streaming seems in place
though (go
abock!), so only the UI is missing.

You could easily write a plugin for simple streaming over
HTTP, because
the underlying media engines support HTTP (this is how I
made DAAP
streaming work... proxy DAAP over an embedded light weight
HTTP server).

By simple I mean a plugin that adds a menu item that would
bring up an
input dialog that asks for an HTTP stream URI. It would then
load the
stream into the active media engine and play it.

iRadio support could probly be implemented as a source now
that shows
streams in the playlist view. 

Each method might require minor tweaks in core, but nothing
drastic. If
anyone wants to work on either kind of plugin, please let me
know, and
I'll be happy to help/answer questions/make necessary core
tweaks.

Banshee is currently feature frozen for the most part for a
few months.
However, I have created the BANSHEE_NLD10 branch in CVS so
new features
can be added to HEAD, but my primary focus for the next few
months is
bug fixing on BANSHEE_NLD10, so most new features that could
be
committed to HEAD will need to be contributed by other
developers.

Being an extensive streaming listener, I'll volunteer to
implement this
after my exams (so no earlier then februari). However, if
someone wants
to do it now, please do!
