Hi all,

I'd like to reorganize the GNOME section. Currently we have
"Core"
and "Additional" sections. I'd like to break it
down further into:

Development Platform Packages
Core Desktop Packages
Additional Packages

The existing Additional packages doesn't need to change.

For the new "Development" section, we'd move the
packages that
currently exist in the "Core" section up to and
including libgnomeui,
into this new section.

What remains in the existing "Core" section will
become the "Core
Desktop" section.

==============================================
Why this change?

1. To better conform with GNOME's platform/desktop
arrangement of
the source packages. With the new method, all of the GNOME
"Platform"
sources (except two accessibility packages) are installed in
one
BLFS section.

2. This provides a separation of GNOME development tools so
that
3rd party packages such as the GIMP's and ABIWord's GNOME
development
environment is somewhat centralized away from the GNOME
desktop
(though it is all integrated most of the time, anyway).

Thoughts from others would be appreciated.

Sounds good to me, although I sort of prefer just
"Platform Packages"
and "Desktop Packages". No big deal, though.

I did this is CBLFS when I first added it in. It does seem
like a better
idea to have the gnome platform libraries separated from the
gnome
desktop packages. Plus it clears up a little bit of
clutter.

Agreed. This also makes it much easier to explain why
development
packages such as libgnomeprint are not in the
"Development Platform"
area.

With your and Joe's positive input, I think it is a good
thing to add
the additional GNOME section. Thanks for the help, guys.

I agree it should be changed, and the sections may as well
be named the
way the gnome team names them.
