This is my first attempt to actually contribute something,
so please
don't kill me if something's not exactly as it ought to
be.
While trying to impose a fake-root installation upon
teTeX-3.0, I found
a (harmless) oversight. texconfig still uses 'sort +1',
which can easily
be fixed:
sed -i "s/sort +1/sort -k 2/"
texk/tetex/texconfig
Since libpng is in the book, it might be worth mentioning
that teTeX can
use the system lib just as with libz. Or something like
"the teTeX
source contains copies of libz, libpng, t1lib and the gd
library. If you
have any of them already installed on your system, you can
tell
configure to use that."
But then, teTeX seems abandoned anyway. :-(
Thanks to all of you,
Hans-J.
