Yes, the reverse name is in dns and responds appropriately.

Still not working, and getting exceedingly annoyed.

Is the hostname in the bb-hosts the fully qualified name
that a
reverse
lookup on DNS would resolve to?

We have the client on a bunch of 10 systems without any
issues.

dns names are resolved fine. It's using DNS first.
I've tried using host and that works as well.

Hmm, interesting. How is your system resolving hostnames?
If it searches DNS or NIS first then it might be getting a
different name than either 'hostname' or /etc/hosts
returns.

Paul,

Is it the warning from the top of bbinc.sh that is being
triggered?
If so, this could also be an indication that something has
gone
wrong with the system definitions in bbsys.sh.

To get a handle on what is going wrong, I'd try something
like the
following as the BB user (changing the BBHOME path as
appropriate).

  export BBHOME=/home/bb/bb1.9i-btf
  cd $BBHOME
  . etc/bbsys.sh
  set -x
  . etc/bbinc.sh

That should give you a more specific reason as to why the
comparison
is failing.

Cheers, Phil.
