Social Meeting - Wed 8th November 2006

Time:    7pm onwards
Venue:   The Old Joint Stock / The Wellington

We didn't succeed in the two part social last month, but we
will try
attempting it this month. So, we will be gathering in The
Old Joint
Stock from about 7pm (again I'll not be booking tables),
have some food,
then at about 8.30-9pm we'll be moving on to The Wellington
on Bennett's
Hill.

For those who don't know the pubs, The Old Joint Stock is on
Temple Row
opposite the entrance to the cathedral. Whereas The
Wellington is near
the top of Bennett's Hill, before the traffic lights, on the
right hand
side. From The OJS, turn right out the door, right onto
Colmore Row,
then right down Bennett's Hill, and The Wellington is on
your right.

If you don't know who the regulars are, the members page
might give you
some clues. Or have a laugh by introducing yourself to
complete
strangers and asking if they're Perl geeks  Usually
Tux is with us, so
look for a 6inch stuffed penguin somewhere on the table.

DIRECTIONS FROM NEW STREET STATION:

For those coming via New Street station, the quickest
walking route is
to exit via the back entrance onto Navigation Street.  Turn
right and
walk up to corner.  Cross the road towards the paved
pedestrian area
(Lower Temple Street) and walk straight up, crossing New
Street itself.
At the top of the short hill (Temple Street) is the
cathedral.  Turn
left and following the road (Temple Row) around the railings
and the pub
is on your left hand side.

Hopefully, see you there.

Alas,

I only returned from Poland last night, and after days and
nights of polish
beer, vodka and factory lard I'm a little pubbed out.

Not to mention there is still a tonne of stuff to sort out
with the house
move.

I think I'll have to therefore regretably miss tommorow.

tonight. I
aim to be there by 7pm.

If like last month, we don't make it to The Wellington,
anyone who heads
to The Wellington and finds we're not there by about 9.30,
chances are
we've failed to move again

I'll make a brief appearance at the Stock but I think I'm
starting to come
down with a cold so I'll probably not stay late.
