Event: Social Meeting
Date: Wednesday 14th May 2008
Time: 7pm onwards
Venue: The Wellington, Bennetts Hill, B2 5SN
Details: http://birmingham.pm.org/cgi-bin/brum.pl?act=meet-main

Once again we'll be at our regular haunt of The Wellington
this month.
Feel free to join us for a healthy mix of discussion, Perl
and drinking.

If you haven't been before, the pub doesn't serve food, but
they do
allow food to be eaten in the pub, and even provide cutlery
and
condiments. Several of us usually order a takeout from the
Thai Orchid
restaurant across the road, which is both reasonably priced
and
excellent quality. The pub does have a large selection of
Real Ales, so
if you're a fan of real beer, you are most likely to find
something to
enjoy. They also serve Guinness ;)

If you don't know who the regulars are, the members page
might give you
some clues. Or have a laugh by introducing yourself to
complete
strangers and asking if they're Perl geeks I should
have Tux with me,
so look for a 6inch stuffed penguin somewhere on the table.
Failing that
look for the laptops!

DIRECTIONS

For anyone not familiar with The Wellington, it is on
Bennett's Hill, on
the left hand side as you walk up the hill from New Street,
about half
way between Waterloo Street and the traffic lights at the
end of Colmore
Row. It's on the same block as the Old Joint Stock, so just
keeping
walking on the pavement without crossing any roads until you
find it ;)

Full address details are:

for

The jaunt we did out to the garden house was quite pleasant
that time. If we
are willing to go a couple of bus stops out of the city
there should be a
few candidates. ( or maybe a short train ride for a visit to
the countryside
- alvchurch and barnt green are within easy reach )
