Hi, I just started a new blog a couple days ago and am
looking for

Looks like yours is a New Blogger blog. Regarding your
AdSense, the 
best spot to place it is above the fold. Currently, the only
AdSense 
related stuff are a FireFox referral button and a searchbar.
If I were 
you, I will switch to a 3 column template in which case you
will have 
more flexibility, eg, ads on the left sidebar, navigation
aids, etc. 
on the right sidebar. See post
