If you are hosting your Blogger on your own web server, I
highly
recommend that you do not republish unless necessary
(classic or new)
if you have posts numbering in the hundreds. It is a time
consuming
process that can go on forever.
On a web hosted server, normal posts will publish (via FTP)
the post
itself, the monthly archive, and the index file. In
addition, it also
RE-publishes all of your TAG element files, regardless
whether or not
the current post mentions one of the tags. I just now
noticed that
while doing a post last night.
If you are on Blogspot hosting, then I would not worry about
it. They
handle the server load for you. Otherwise, on your own host,
it can be
very intense.
