After you convert to the new system, you can hold on to your
old
blogger template. However, you will not be able to use
labels with an
old template. You have to switch to a new template to
benefit from
labels. I'd suggest saving a backup copy of your old
template.
You can try a new template and see if its worth dumping your
old
modifications for the new setup. If not you can revert to
your old
template, pasting your old code back into the template
editor.
In general, I like the additional functionality. I
definitely like
the labels option. I also like being able to run Text Link
Ads on my
blog and earning a monthly advertising fee for listings.
On the down side, the new code is more complicated than the
old
fashioned html template code. You can mix and match
somethings into
the new templates manually, but it is like starting over in
many
ways. In the long run, its probably worth switching for the
reasons I
mentioned above, but prepare for the transition and don't
take it in a
light hearted fashion if you think you might want to revert
back to
your old template some day.
