Most important to me is useful, interesting and focused
content.
Others like template used, layout, customization, etc, may
play a role
but a secondary one.

Should I try and find a particular area of conversation, and
go with
that, instead of being random?  I have noticed alot of
people
specialize their blogs.  What determines whether someone
will read a
blog?  I have seen some with lots of readers, and others
with not so
many.

What determines whether or not someone will read a blog is
whether or
not they are interested in the subject matter of the blog.

Personally I think that your blog should stick to one
subject.  If you
have more than one interest then you can start more than one
blog.

I also think - personally - that you should use a subject
that you are
interested in.  When you are interested in the subject that
you are
blogging about it shows in your blog. and your readers will
be able to
tell that and if they too are interested then they will
continue to
come to your blog.

Now you may think that your subject matter isn't interesting
but you'd
be surprised at how many people might be interested in the
same thing
that you are.
