Failed Log in

I've just installed blojsom 3.0M2 with a script that works
(thus far) 
with 4.1 and 5.0.

I can login with default/default but when I created a new
blog and new 
user at the same time, then try to log in with it I get a
"Status: 
Failed authentication for Graham Reeds".

This also occurs with the 5.0 version. The differences
between the 
scripts is not that great - the main difference is
varchar(4096) is now 
  text, but apart from that one instance MySQL5 can use
MySQL4 syntax.

I've checked my dbusers and that has the default user and
me listed, as 
well as the password in plain text. I have also tried using
the 
user_login as well as the user_name.

If I go to the Users page only the default user is listed.

However if I create a user in the Users page then I can
login as them 
normally.
