Yes, that is set to true. Did I misunderstand something? I
thought it
only deletes the comments recognized as spam?
It seems to flag *every* comment as spam.

No, I don't have any other anti-spam plugin like Math or
SCode
installed; activating Akismet was my first attempt at
fighting
comment spam. It worked pretty well, I don't have any more
comment
spam - in fact I don't have *any* comments anymore

I just checked the catalina.out log again, and this line is
really
the only message that shows up:

comment.CommentPlugin -
> Comment meta-data contained destroy key. Comment was
not saved

I am pretty sure the API key settings etc. are right. I used
a packet
sniffer to analyze the traffic between my server and the
<api-
key>.rest.akismet.com host and it seems that Akismet
always returns
"true", indicating that the comment is spam. Did
anyone else ever see
this behavior?

Is anyone actually *using* the blojsom Akismet plugin
successfully?

According to the testimonials on their site, Akismet seems
to work
very well for users of *other* blog packages so I am
thinking that
maybe the blojsom plugin has a bug that causes it to send
the request
to the Akismet service the wrong way, thereby provoking the
"true"
response every time. I'd like to compare setups with
someone who has
got it working.

If this leads nowhere, what is the most popular and easy to
activate
spam plugin?

I'm using the Akismet plugin on my blog. Although now I'm
using the blojsom
3 version of the plugin, I was previously using the plugin
also built for
blojsom 2.

And you've got the akismet-java-1.01.jar file? There *was*
a bug in the
initial release of the Akismet library that if certain data
was null, then
there was a NPE, but I don't remember anything about always
returning *true*
as the response for comments.
