While I applaud the 3.0 effort, 2.x should not be dismissed
and
deemed "a waste of time" (even as I currently
port my private plugins
to the 3.0 code).
Apple's Weblog Server will be 2.2x for sometime to come I
suspect,
and then there will be the large contingency of users not
willing to
"adopt the enterprise thinking in 3.0" with DB
administration and new
Java technologies evolving beyond the use of POJOs.
To that end, I hope that David and others will not begin
thinking of
2.x maintenance, improvement, and extension as "a
waste of time." I
know I will continue to support 2.x whenever possible.
And in trying to remain, "on topic," if only a
little bit, have you
tried the SCode plugin for comment moderation? SCode has
effectively
killed comment spam on my multiple blojsom-on-Linux
installs. SCode
has some server configuration items to consider, e.g., Java
headless
support, Linux graphic library support, and flaky Mac OS X
server
support (a limitation of the OS, not the plugin), all of
which might
be difficult or not possible depending on your host. I
suspect
however, if you are running blojsom, you have a host that is
either a
VPS, dedicated server, or machine that is configurable as
you see
fit. Consider looking at SCode if Akismet is not working
"as
advertised."

Tim
