I have poured through the list and have not found a post
which indicates
how to globally turn off the ability to respond to a blog
with a comment. I
work in a high school and I don't want students to provide
stupid comments
- I am happy with no comments at all!!

I have discovered how to do this individually using the
users
"blog.properties" file but I assume I would need
to edit the
"html-comments.vm" file in templates?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Steve

Steve-

Yes, you can disable comments and trackbacks for the blog by
using the
correct properties in the blog.properties as you've found
out.

I think many of the blojsom themes include the following
before the comment
form items in the Velocity template:

    #if ($BLOJSOM_COMMENTS_ENABLED.booleanValue() &&
$entry.supportsComments())

...

    #end

If the #if and #end statements aren't there, you might want
to add them to
the template or simply remove the comment form altogether.

Steve,

I'm not sure if this will help, but I've been trying to
customize my
blog (running on OS X, so it's definitely not the most
recent version of
Blojsom) with comment moderation and all that stuff (I also
work for a
school district).

You can read about some of the things I've figured out
here:

htt
p://www.sbschools.org/weblog/jdeery/OSXServer/

Also, if you set your

blog-comments-enabled=false

In the bootstrap/blog.properties, that should copy that
preference over
to each new blog created.

Good luck!
