I am using the instance of blojsom that comes pre-installed on OS X Server 10.4.x.  It is configured and running fine.  When I use the local web interface, new postings appear correctly and are written to the filesystem as *.html

When using ecto over the metaweblog XMLRPC link and I make a post, the post goes through, and the two post files are created in the filesystem as post.meta and post.txt.  The txt files do not seem to be picked up by the display calls and therefore don't appear in the blog.  If I go into the filesystem and change the .txt to a .html extension, they then appear.

Is there a way to either:

1.  Get posts created over the XMLRPC link to be named with the .html extension or
2.  Get the display engine to recognize both .txt and html as valid file extensions for posts.

Thanks in advance.

The problem is not the file name. It is more like the
timestamp on the
file. The pre-installed blojsom can display both .html and
.txt files.
When you change the name, you have changed the timestamp to
now.

Ecto and the pre-installed version of blosjom don't handle
timestamps
correctly in ecto's default configuration. An easy fix is
to open the
"Edit Settings..." under the
"Weblog" menu in ecto. Go to the
"Other" tab
and set the "Adjust post time" to the your time
zone. For exaple, -5 for
Central Time in USA.

By the way, you will want to uncheck "Convert line
breaks in Rich Text
mode" under the "Preprocessing" tab as
blojsom is already set to handle
this mode.

Eric-

I thought I had the XML-RPC handlers set to use .html as the file extension. I assume you’re using the latest patches for the OS X server instance?

Either way, the following properties can be used in an individual blog.properties file:

 blog-xmlrpc-entry-extension=.html
 blog-file-extensions=.*html, .*txt

The first property controls the extension for the entries that get written out when using a remote posting client such as ecto.

The second property controls the file extensions that are picked up as entries.

You can also add/change these properties in /WEB-INF/bootstrap/blog.properties to have them propagated to new blogs that you create.
