Hi Aaron,
David wrote about associated categories plugin here
http://www.blojsom.com/blog/blojsom/?permalink=3AADB81587B7C39B21B90A4E2F6EF227.txt
maybe it helps you to go further. I had a look at the source code, and
wasn't sure with what it's trying to achieve with
FileBackedBlogCategory. David can describe much better when he returned.
By 'overkill' (sorry, bad wording), I meant it's much easier to come up
with 4 labels (tagging) than associating a post with 4 different
hierarchies (categorizing). But I see your point with people
subscribing to a particular feed which might miss out the other feeds.
I like the way Otis organise Simpy blog http://blog.simpy.com... define
few simple categories and tag the entries with specific labels.
He also wrote about categories vs tags here
http://blog.simpy.com/blojsom/blog/2005/08/11/Categories_vs_Keywords_vs_Labels_vs_Tags.html
Cheers,
Cliff.

Cliff,
I don't necessarily agree with the "4 different categories being
overkill" statement. What if you had someone subscribing to only
your RSS Feed for OSX? And others, not caring for OSX, only
subscribed to the Jdeveloper feed, or Jboss feed?
By cross-posting, you can make sure your "readers" get the post, such
as getting "Jboss to run on OSX" or something? That way, readers
subscribed to Jboss get it, and subscribers to OSX get it.
Maybe I'm not understanding the label/tag scenario.......
