Category Structure

The owner of the blog I'm setting up (Blojsom 2.30) wants
just two 
categories: "News" and "Commentary,"
and no "root" category.  If I set up 
"News" as the meta-name for root (because there
seems to be no other way 
not to have a selectable root), and "Commentary"
as its only branch, are 
there any ways in which that structure (hierarchical to
Blojsom, but co-equal 
to the display), are there any forseeable problems?
