Agreed. You might verify that the user used to start the
application server
process has and has permissions to write to their user.home
directory.

You could also try setting the
"blojsom-blog-home" property in
/WEB-INF/blojsom.properties to a directory you know is
created and where the
user used to start the application server has permission to
write.
