No,

You are correct. It was very easy. I made a few mistakes I
believe. The only
thing I could suggest was the link text is
"blojsom.war" and one time I
right-clicked on it and chose download because I thought it
linked to the file.
Maybe it could be named "Blojsom WAR" or
"Blojsom Download". (on
http://wiki.blojsom.com/wiki/display/blojsom/bloj
som+Quickstart). But I had
another problem before which was probably because I foudn
blojsom through
Sourceforge and downloaded it there without ever seeing the
Quickstart. When I
tried your instructions yesterday it works like an ace. And
Blojsom is
impressive.

Thanks for your help,
Tim

My view of open source on the whole is very impressive. You
can get
some high quality software very cheaply (if I like and they
give the
option I usually donate $20 dollars or so). Also you can
spend sometime
sorting through the dross - especially if the field is
fairly new like
blogging software.

However there is a big divide between Java and PHP software.
The major
web configuration tool is cPanel which has several options
for the PHP
users out there, but nothing (not in the services I've
used) for Java users.

Also the software I have found for Java very rarely works as
expected.
I expect software when installed to a subfolder to work from
that
subfolder. I installed Blojsom (java) to /blogs so I would
get
/blogs/username/ but no it added a /blog/ folder in there.
Similar with
JForum. I installed to /forums to give /forums/list.page
but that too
installs an additional folder too giving me
/forums/forums/list.page.
Also other java web-apps do the same (Pebble).

Now Wordpress (PHP) worked flawlessly. Had a bit of faff
with themes but
apart from that it was painless. Worked straight from the
folder I told
it to. Same with phpBB. Now I am a big fan of Java, but
these issues
seem to be the main dragging point of java apps.
