Every time I've installed the Blojsom and the twice I've
installed
jForum I've tried to get them to coexist on the same site.
Both times
the conventional fix for removing the extraneous directory
would be to
"install to root". That probably won't be very
pretty.
My experience with PHP based software on the other hand is
refreshingly
different (despite not being particularly fond of it as a
language).
Installed Wordpress to blogs. Bingo - it works. Same with
phpBB.
Why is that? I've never done much in php, but a friend of
mine has
worked in Java and php for a period of time and says he
hates
maintaining php as it is "very wishy-washy" (his
words not mine). He
also admits that his workplace never creates sites that
aren't 100%
integrated in Java. Presumably one of his colleagues had
the same
problem I've been having and decided against fighting it
and wrote his
own. Hence they have their own blogging software, forums,
training
maps, and shopping carts, but they are all less fully
featured than
alternatives but they are known to integrate with each other
perfectly.
