Hi,
Adding a user to the dbuser table using
mysql> insert into dbuser values (3,'shalini_israni',';whatever39;,'shalini','shalini email','2007-02-19 11:19:2339;,'new',1);
does get rid of the exception. But now, whenever i try and change anything (add/del blogs, entries ,categories etc) ...it says that i don not have the permissions for that particular exception
I am not adding anything else to any other tables.
This it allows me for the default blog (id=1 in the query above). On trying to add to the blog i added to the system before LDAP came into play, the same exception occurs...
What does this mean?
And if this resovles the error, what part must i edit so that these accounts
are automatically created when the user succesfully logs in for the
first time? Also, how do i then authenticate him(update the blojsom
database) if his LDAP password changes?
Many thanks ....
Shalini

Hi David,
To do that, do i need to add an a user with the corresponding account in the dbuser table?

I think the issue is that there needs to be a corresponding user in blojsom as well as LDAP with the same username. Try that and see if you still get an error logging into blojsom after authenticating with LDAP.

Could you tell me what must be done to un-mess the situation and get rid of the exception?

Hi,
No there is no such corresponding account in the blojsom database.
After installing Blojsom3.1 (using the quickstart .war file)
- i logged in to the admin console using the default-default login and created another blog with id 2 (just ...letting you know..)
- i
Made the authentication LDAP by following the instructions (Changes to the web.xml and blojsom.xml)
But no changes to the database in terms of blog users.
Looks like i have missed out something somewhere
Thanks,
Shalini
From: David Czarnecki <david bl...> - 2007-02-27 08:11 Does the user account youre authenticating with LDAP have an account in the
blojsom database?

Hi,
I have changed the authorization provider to LDAP by making the necessary change in blojsom.xml. The entry for authorization provider now looks like this:
<!-- Authorization provider -->
<bean id="authorizationProvider" class="org.blojsom.authorization.ldap.LDAPAuthorizationProvider"
init-method="init">
<property name="sessionFactory">
<ref bean="hibernateSessionFactory"/>
</property>
<property name="servletConfig">
<ref bean="servletConfigFactoryBean"/>
</property>
</bean>
This authenticates the users fine.
But on being authenticated, and trying to add / delete any blog or entry, the following exception occurs:
(It infact occurs when i click on anything in the admin console after being successfully logged in via LDAP)
java.lang.NullPointerException
org.blojsom.authorization.database.DatabaseAuthorizationProvider.checkPermission
(DatabaseAuthorizationProvider.java:169)
org.blojsom.plugin.admin.BaseAdminPlugin.checkPermission
(BaseAdminPlugin.java:253)
org.blojsom.plugin.admin.EditBlogsPlugin.process
(EditBlogsPlugin.java:214)
org.blojsom.servlet.BlojsomServlet.service
(BlojsomServlet.java:253)
javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service
(HttpServlet.java
:802)
org.blojsom.filter.PermalinkFilter.doFilter
(PermalinkFilter.java
:207)
org.blojsom.filter.SkipEntriesFilter.doFilter
(SkipEntriesFilter.java
:103)
org.blojsom.filter.PageFilter.doFilter
(PageFilter.java:167)
org.blojsom.filter.FeedFilter.doFilter(FeedFilter.java:198)
I am using Blojsom 3.1 with Tomcat 5.5 and MySql 5.0
Why does the above exception occur?
Many thanks in advance
Regards,
Shalini
