As I understood from Niall Kennedy (formerly at Technorati),
they do use
information in the feed, but really having the following in
the entry itself
is what really helps.

rel="tag">blojsom</a>
That and having an HTML template that validates. I guess
they screen-scrape
(i.e. Read HTML) after you've posted when they get a ping.
That scares me.
You consult for them ... You tell us how it really works
