postings via xmlrcp don't show up - .txt vs .html files the problem?

i'm using the "stock" mac osx tiger server version
of blojsom.

my webserver is publshing content via ssl.

i recently had a problem whereby when i accessed weblogs, i
could get
to the main page, but all the other linked pages (to
comments, etc.)
were broken because they were trying to access the site url
as
"htt
p://<host>/weblog/<blog>/..." rather
than "https://...".

so i did a bit of poking around in the properties files and
patched
places where i saw "http://" where it looked like
it should have been
"https://". i
mention this just because i'm a bit worried that i
might have changed something i shouldn't have or possibly
screwed up
another setting somehow. i also mention it because upon
googling, i
did come across some mention of some other people having
trouble
getting the xmlrpc service working properly under ssl, so i
am
wondering if this might be a known problem with this
version.

now i'm testing out access to the blogs via a blog client,
ecto. i
have configured it to use metaweblog api, and i think i have
the
other settings configured ok. ecto can i can see the
existing blog
entries and create new entries. i can access the new
entries on the
server via their permalinks by using url's such as:

https://<host>/weblog/<user>/?permalink=...

however when i view the "normal" blog page as https://<host>/web
log/
<user>/, then i don't see my newly created entries.
same when i
click on the "all entries" link.

if i create a new entry via the web interface, the new
web-created
entry shows up just fine, but the ecto-created entries still
don't
show up.

i have looked in the /Library/Application
Support/Weblogs/<user>/ and
i can see the files there, both for the entries that were
created via
ecto and those that were created via the web ui. however it
appears
that the ecto-created files have extension .txt and the
web-created
files have extension .html. i don't see any settings in
ecto
control this.

looking in my blog.properties file in
/Library/Tomcat/blojsom_root/
webapps/ROOT/WEB-INF/<user>/blog.properies, i see:
blog-file-exensions=.*html, .*txt, .*textile

is there something else i need to change to make it so that
the files
created by ecto are included along with web-created entries
on the blog?

thanks in advance.

David-

Take a look at the "Adjust post time" setting in
Settings | Other. The post
date may be getting set ahead.

As far as XML-RPC entries being written as .txt, take a look
at an
individual blog's blog.properties file. You should see a
setting:

blog-xmlrpc-entry-extension=.html

If it's .txt, change it to .html. I think this might fix
your issue.
