Thread: jsp files too slow?

jsp files too slow?

What is hurting my performance?

Could it be blojsom affecting other areas of my site?

A simple 10k jsp, that has no blog content, takes about 9
sec to load.

http://
dhtmlkitchen.com/learn/js/enumeration/

The page should load in < 2 sec on a fast connection.

Would it help to change:

log4j.properties
FROM:
log4j.rootLogger=DEBUG, stdout
TO:
log4j.rootLogger=ERROR, stdout

Garret,

What makes you think that Blojsom is the cause? Please
explain.

The site response is slow. I'm trying to diagnose the
cause.

ping is fast, it's the server response.

Possibly a configuration of Blojsom, such as logging, could
be
affecting the performance of the app.

Are there any known issues, such as logging, or velocity
macros, or
anything, that have associated performance hits?

I don't understand. What are you trying to ask?

I think Ingo didn't know that you're using JSP templates on your Blojsom instance, where most people use the default Velocity tempates. Hence the question.

Garrett, since you mentioned about changing the log severity level, have you tried that? any performance changes?

Do you know after how many redeployments you started getting the permgen error?
An exact step by step instruction to reproduce the error would help.

Not really, no. Nothing noticeable.

Usually 1.

1. goto tomcat manager, click "reload"
or manager/html/reload?path=/

If you are using jsp, how would velocithy macros cause
performance
problems? Be specific about problem.

Maybe they're called as part of a filter? I don't know.
Seems
unlikely. What would be more a likely cause?

 Be specific about problem.
The problem is that when I go to any jsp page on my site,
the server
response has about an 8 second lag. Take a JSP page:
http://dhtmlkitchen.co
m/learn/
Slow!

Non-jsp
http://dhtmlkitchen.
com/learn/js

Fast.

The problem might be related to logging. I just don't know.
I already
tried changing log4j.properties. Is there a logging config
somewhere
else?
