There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with:

It doesn't matter if you use the extension or not, because blosxom
will attempt to handle any request for a file under native_suburbia
that doesn't exist. This behavior is defined in my .htaccess file.

Now this does seem to be a bug. The link to the zip archive works
from the main blog, but not the Permalink page. I never tested that,
I assumed that they would be the same, but I guess the path is
changing for the Permalink page to the subdirectory where the post
file is located. Thus the file doesn't "exist" at my wrongly formed
reference and blosxom is attempting to fill the request.
I will look into this when I get a chance. For now, if you are
interested in my blosxom files, just follow the link from the main page.
