I have had a plantronics explorer 320 working with my DBT-120 dongle for some time now.

I got hold of a motorola H350. To try it I started poking around and made changes to rfcomm.conf.
I could do
hcitool scan
sdptool browse
both fine.
I could ping the headset but I could not get it to pair with btsco, getting connection refused.
I got fed up and set all files back except for the auth and encrypt settings in hcid.conf. They had been at enable with the plantronic before but I remember hearing they should be disabled?
so I get this with the plantronics now.....

sdptool browse 00:03:89:F7:A9:78

Any ideas what happened here? My pin code is set to 0000 as it was when working.
Thanks. -Walt

Note: the /etc/bluetooth pin file contains '0000' as worked before and per manufacturer.
It's obvious from the dump the pin is being rejected. What could cause this? a temp setting somewhere?
I had destroyed some info in /var/lib/bluetooth.. the only directory there now is the dongle address. Could this be related?

I fixed the problem.
On doing 'sdptool browse <addr>' to try to force issue I noted
'failed to connect to sdp server permission denied'
seeing that I checked the security setting in hcid.conf which was set to user.
I think that setting had been working for me. I changed it to auto and rebooted.
The headset then paired.
Can anyone tell me what else one has to do to recycle after making changes to these config files?
I have noticed that simply '/etc/init.d/bluetooth restart' is not enough so in many cases I'll reboot.
I'd love to know what I am missing so I never have to reboot the system.
Thanks.
