How about TeX or LaTeX ? There are a lot of converter tools
out there
that allow creating PS or PDF from TeX documents... Though
I'm not
impressed with the TeX based documents that I see being
created (too
plain for taste, or might just be a default output format),
it might
be a worthy alternative to DocBook.
I haven't a lot of experience with TeX nor LaTeX though, so
I think I
should read more about it too.
